What we are building.
Kuula Microfinance Company Limited was registered in May 2026 as a Tier IV non-deposit-taking microfinance institution in Uganda. We offer four products: Salary-Backed Loans, Asset Financing, Small Trader Loans and Invoice and Contract Financing.
We are not a charity. We are building a commercial lending institution with the ambition to become a Tier III deposit-taking microfinance institution by Year 5 to 7.
We are focused on proving the model in Kampala first, operating from Taabu Courts, Kisingiri Road, Mengo. We do not expand until the current geography is proven.
Who we are looking for.
Debt funders
Organisations or individuals providing on-lending capital at terms that allow Kuula to lend profitably. Structured debt facilities, not grants.
Anchor partners
Organisations with existing relationships in Kampala: employers, market associations, boda stage associations, trade unions.
Technical partners
Institutions with expertise in credit scoring, loan management systems or microfinance operations.
Roadmap.
- Year 1-2: Build the loan book in Kampala. Obtain UMRA Tier IV licence. Subscribe to CRB.
- Year 3-4: Expand within Uganda based on proven performance.
- Year 5-7: Apply for Tier III deposit-taking microfinance status.
- Year 15-25: Commercial banking ambitions, subject to track record.
Each stage depends on execution, regulation and capital availability.
